Jules-Cougnard

Chêne-Bougeries, Geneva

Located in a residential area in the process of densification on the outskirts of the city of Geneva, this building with its simple volumetry and prefabricated concrete facades develops an architectural expression that allows it to integrate into a heterogeneous fabric.

The large openings, which appear to be carved into the mass of the building, with two trenches expressing the verticality of the stairwells on the north facade, are complemented by generous cantilevered balconies on the south facade, where the noses of the concrete slab and the vertical edges materialised by posts on the upper floors define an extruded volume of the built body.

A skilful compromise between the rationality of the plan and the level of PPE finishing will make it possible to offer quality housing in a quiet setting close to the centre of Geneva. Energy production only with heat pumps and photovoltaic panels. A small green park built above the underground car park brings nature to the feet of the building, and the urban furniture installed allows the inhabitants to meet there. A generous bicycle shelter and close access to public transport encourage soft mobility.
